Once upon a time, Berroco had a line of yarns called the Conoisseur Collection. These were yarns created to show breed specific characteristics and were quite lovely. Here is their blurb for this yarn: "Whilst recovering from near extinction in the 1970's, the Wensleydale sheep continues to be a rare breed. Found mainly in the North of England, Wensleydale sheep's outstanding characteristics are its blue-grey face and it's particularly fine and curly fleece. Due to is exceptional lustre and supurb handle, the Wensleydale wool makes one of the most unique handknitting yarns in the world."
Translated — it has a gloss and hand that most other fibers do not, but please don't expect Merino lamb softness. The longwools tend to be sturdier grades of fiber. The color is a cool, rich taupe. Made in England. Winner of the British Wool International Quality Awards.
